I have been trying to get my hands on this foundation of the longest time but with not knowing what shade to get and how difficult it has been to get a hold of, I only managed to get it a couple of weeks ago! I have been putting this to the test and I do think it is great for the price, you can't beat it! I am a huge fan of The Ordinary skincare products so I knew I would probably be a fan of this product too.
The Ordinary currently have two foundations and I decided to go for the Colours Coverage Foundation as I am always after a medium to full coverage to help conceal my discolouration and acne. This foundation contains a higher pigment level than the Serum foundation but still will offer a smooth finish to the skin. The foundation itself has a lightweight, non-oily cream formulation and aims to never look heavy on the skin. The pigments used in these foundations are treated for a rich highly-saturated effect and have been suspended in a proprietary spreadability system to allow the pigments to look natural on the skin. It will also help to not settle into fine lines and last longer on the skin.
The Ordinary Foundations are available in 21 shades and when I started to look for my shade, I did find it a little difficult but I actually managed to match it perfectly! If you aren't sure what shade you would be, Wayne Goss has a list of the shades with a guide against MAC foundation shades which is what I used to colour match myself. One thing I do really like about the shade range is that they have created shades with different undertones, I like my foundations to be more yellow toned so I went for the 1.2Y shade, I'm usually NC15/20 at MAC, if that helps at all.
The packaging of this product is simple and to the point, the bottle seemed super small when it arrived but it actually has 30ml of product and that's basically a standard size for any foundation. I love that it comes with a pump as it makes it much easier and less messy to use and it has a slightly rubberised effect. Even though this foundation is fairly cheap, the packaging does feel of good quality just like the foundation itself.
I have been using this foundation for a couple of weeks now and I do love the coverage it provides. I would say its medium to full depending on how much you apply and what you use to apply it. I do find that I get higher coverage with a brush so I like to use a brush on my problem areas and a beauty blender for the rest of the skin. I use about a pump and a half and it will cover everything flawlessly and it's so easy to blend too. It looks very smooth on my skin, especially over my acne. It doesn't settle into any lines or pores but I do like to use a primer to ensure that I always get a smooth application.
Even though it is very yellow toned, it does seems to slightly settle on the skin and tone down. It has a natural demi-matte finish and it honestly feels like skincare on the skin. It is undetectable in feel and appearance! The only issue I have with this foundation is its wear time, I do have to touch up a few times throughout the day and it won't last all day on my skin and it isn't even that oily. But for about £5 a bottle, you really can't complain.
